Let the blogging begin...

In the days ahead, I will be sharing some of my favorite blogs and books to read for encouragment. This is my first blog, so temper the expectations. Hopefully, it will become a place of authentic conversation and encouragment. So, here goes...

The foundational verse of our church is Ephesians 2:10, which states, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God is prepared in advance for us to do."

What an encouraging and yet challenging verse of scripture. It follows the truth presented in verse 9 that our salvation is a gift of God received through faith. Many believers stop right there not recognizing that salvation is not the end in itself, but the doorway to a great life serving Christ!

I don't know about you, but sometimes I struggle with accepting that I am "His workmanship," a masterpiece of design and purpose. However, because I struggle at times to accept the truth does not change the truth...God created me to do great things for Him...and that means he created you to do great things for Him as well!

One version of that scripture uses the phrase that "we should walk in them." In other words, God's got it all planned out, but we have to walk it out. Despite our fears, despite our questions, despite our reasons for making other choices, God expects us to walk out the plan he has for our lives.

So, let me encourage you, even when you do not feel like His masterpiece of workmanship...keep walking, because it's only in walking it out that you will see God's great plan for your life revealed.

Until next time...keep loving God and encouraging people!
